Derrick Ampofo has been chosen by his class as the senior speaker at Saturday's Commencement. 🎓🎤 As a biology major, Derrick has been an active researcher, intern and volunteer across the globe, from Boston University and George Washington University to Columbia University’s Cancer Program, Johns Hopkins University and a hospital in his home country of Ghana. Closer to home, he has served at Liberty Hospital, Children's Mercy and American Red Cross. And when Derrick saw a gap in healthcare access, he founded the Kansas City Immigrant Health Screenings Initiative. He plans to complete an MD/PhD dual program and develop metabolic therapies for neurological diseases such as glioblastoma and Alzheimer’s.
