This morning at FIU’s NSF-NHERI Wall of Wind Experimental Facility, researchers from Florida International University, The University of Kansas, and The University of Alabama subjected a full-scale manufactured home to simulated hurricane-force winds.
The research, led by the University of Kansas, will generate data designed to inform future updates to federal manufactured housing wind-safety standards. Roughly 22 million Americans live in manufactured housing.
This is what a Top 50 public research university looks like in practice: solving problems with national consequence, in the city that needs the answers most.
