May 17, 2025: Friends Kenneth Serrano and Charles Rogers FaceTimed from their corrals at the start of the 2025 RBC Brooklyn Half. It was the last time they spoke.    Charles suffered a cardiac arrest at about mile 8 and passed away at Maimonides Medical Center despite lifesaving efforts.   Today, Kenneth took on the 2026 RBC Brooklyn Half in Charles’ honor.   Send love to Kenneth and let us honor the tragic passing of Charles, one year later. 💙🕊️⬇️   Note: At New York Road Runners, runner health and safety are our top priorities, and we have a comprehensive network of medical professionals and resources in place to support our runners every step of the way. To support our medical efforts, we stationed a new resuscitation device at the finish line of the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon and will have the same device at the 2026 RBC Brooklyn Half, in case a runner suffers a serious cardiac event.
