Poolesville High School’s coed volleyball team made history Thursday night, capturing the Montgomery County championship with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sherwood and finishing the season undefeated.
The title marks the first county championship in recent program history for the Falcons, capping off a memorable season for a senior class that took the court knowing it would be their final time playing together for Poolesville.
Leading the way was senior captain Jaylin Anderson (
#6), who guided the Falcons from the setter position with what coaches described as composure, passion, and determination throughout the season. Fellow seniors Jordan Smith, Emmanuel Chukwurah (
#52), and Scarlett Hunter (
#11) also played key roles in the championship run, with Chukwurah dominating at the net and Hunter delivering relentless defensive effort to keep rallies alive.
