@FKA twigs will star as jazz icon Josephine Baker in an untitled biopic written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, with filming set to begin this fall. The project is backed by Studiocanal and carries the endorsement of Baker’s family, including her sons and the Rainbow Tribe (the name Baker gave to her twelve adopted children). The film has been in development since 2022, when a separate A24 television adaptation starring Janelle Monáe was also announced—a project that never moved forward.
