Some housing developments underway in Anderson County have caused educational leaders to sound the alarm.
During a Monday night meeting, the Anderson County Planning Commission approved the Palmetto Place Apartments and three single-family subdivisions known as Clearbrook, Indigo Trail and Mattison Woods for construction.
“We’re having to try to balance some growth with the community members that want to preserve our community as it is," said Wesley Grant, chair of the commission.
But Anderson School District One Superintendent Dr. Seth Young warned the new developments are outpacing the rate the district can grow. He said that schools like Spearman Elementary and Wren Elementary are full.
