A man is facing charges after investigators say he started a fire outside the Trump Store in Tombstone during the early morning hours of May 4. According to the Tombstone Marshal’s Office, security footage allegedly showed 58-year-old Donald William Rudy pulling materials from the back of his truck before lighting a fire near brush and vegetation outside the store. Investigators say Rudy later referred to the fires as “shrines” and allegedly told officers he was trying to “ask for rain upon the earth.” Authorities say there is currently no evidence the incident was politically motivated. Court records also show Rudy had previously been indicted on weapons misconduct charges in another Arizona town before the arrest.
