Parker Dam on the Arizona-California border is known as the deepest dam in the world. While only a small portion is visible above the water, around 235 feet of the structure extends below the riverbed to reach bedrock — making most of the dam hidden underground. The dam was built between 1934 and 1938 along the Colorado River and helps create Lake Havasu.
