The only person ever charged in the disappearance of Navajo elder Ella Mae Begay has now been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison 😳 According to federal authorities, Preston Henry Tolth pleaded guilty to robbing Begay as part of a plea agreement connected to the case. Prosecutors reportedly dropped other charges and agreed not to pursue future charges tied to Begay’s disappearance if new evidence later emerges. Begay disappeared from her home in Sweetwater on the Navajo Nation in June 2021 and has still never been found. Family members asked the judge to reject the plea deal, saying they still want answers about what happened to her and where she is. Investigators identified Tolth as a suspect shortly after Begay vanished.
