Six people were hospitalized Saturday night after a wrong-way crash involving three vehicles on Loop 101 near Chaparral Road in Scottsdale.
According to DPS, the driver of a black sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway just before 11PM before crashing into two other vehicles.
Officials say six people were taken to the hospital, including one person with serious injuries. The crash also forced portions of Loop 101 to shut down overnight while crews investigated and cleared the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or what caused the driver to enter the freeway going the wrong direction.
Wrong-way crashes continue to be one of the deadliest types of accidents on Arizona freeways, especially during late night hours.
