Much like the Steelers (steelers) last year in Ireland, the New Orleans Saints are the host for the NFL’s first-ever game in Paris mainly as a celebration of their French heritage.
New Orleans is a city steeped in French culture and history, from its architecture and cuisine — who doesn’t wait in line for the famously popular beignets? — right down to the French Quarter. Even the tradition of Mardi Gras has French Catholic origins.
But let’s not dismiss the historical and even modern-day similarities between Pittsburgh and France, of which there are many, some more obvious than others.
