Edwin Paragas of the antirecidivismcoalition is our second 2026 Steinberg Institute Champion! After serving over two decades in California state prison, Edwin now dedicates his career to ensuring that system-impacted youth receive the mental health and reentry support necessary to avoid the adult prison system. As the Co-Director of Youth Development Programs at the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC), Edwin leads initiatives rooted in community, connection, and healing-centered practices. His impact on the justice landscape is defined by his commitment to treating the underlying trauma often found at the root of system involvement – recognizing that for restoration to be permanent, mental wellness must be a priority. By valuing every voice and prioritizing the mental and emotional healing of system-impacted youth, Edwin is helping to build a future where every story has the potential to lead to positive change.
