We are almost 24 hours away from hosting Toby Douglas! Toby is originally from Muscowpetung Saulteaux First Nation, but has lived in Calgary since she was 2 years old. Toby formally studied in the United Kingdom where she graduated from her midwifery degree in 1999. Since then, she has practiced midwifery in Calgary and was one of the first Indigenous midwives to become formally registered in the province. Toby co-owns and manages Calgary’s longest running midwifery practice and has sat on the board for the Association of Midwives of Alberta during their early and formative years. We will be facilitating a talking circle focussed on: -Cultural practices around pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. - Birth Options in Indigenous Communities. -Working with Indigenous families.
