It never ceases to amaze me all the things your very smart baby innately knows how to do!⁣ ⁣⁣ You already know that a newborn exam includes weight, height, and head circumference...but did you know there's a whole lot more being checked too?? ⬇️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ * posture + spine⁣⁣ * muscle tone⁣⁣ * head shape + formation of cranial bones⁣⁣ * birthmarks + bruising⁣⁣ * facial symmetry + characteristics⁣⁣ * colour, position, and shape of eyes⁣⁣ * ear formation⁣⁣ * mouth + hard/soft palettes⁣⁣ * limb length + symmetry⁣⁣ * fingers, toes, palm creases⁣⁣ * respiratory rate + sound of lungs⁣⁣ * heart rate and sound of heart⁣⁣ * abdominal appearance + feel⁣⁣ * genitalia⁣⁣ * joint range of motion in hips and knees⁣⁣ * at least 5 reflexes including grasp, suck, rooting, stepping, and startle⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ...
