Russian forces are trying to break a blockade imposed by Jihadist militants in Mali. The capital city, Bamako, has been under siege for nearly a month by rebel forces seeking to overthrow the ruling military government. Dozens of people were reportedly killed in attacks on two villages in central Mali last week, the deadliest assault since armed groups launched the co-ordinated offensive.
