#Gouache painting demo from this morning’s #class focusing on #portraiture and limited palettes. I’ve been incredibly inspired by the memes going around and wanted to capture that face of kevinjamesofficial we can all relate to. I know I can. I started without a drawing and focused on building the painting through shapes. This led to some problems, since I moved very quickly and didn’t take enough time to measure things out. The flip side is that I had to correct this by reshaping my initial #brushstrokes, which for me is part of the process and fun. I painted this under natural lighting, so the light changes throughout the video. It also made it difficult to see what I was doing. The moving light and a phone floating in front of my face the entire time made it a little more difficult than painting usually is. #Paint used: @winsorandnewton gouache: spectrum red, blue, yellow, ivory black, titanium white, yellow ochre #Brushes: velvettouch round 6 and 4
