Some painters like landscapes or the figure and maybe even both. I like those too, but nothing is quite like painting the undead. The colors you can push can be garish, which is inherently a part of the decayed nature of zombies. Combining greens, blues, reds and purples give a striking contrasting color effect, which is an interesting way to explore color theory. I started this with a very loose sketch that I actually couldn’t see while painting. I knew this as I was drawing it, so I ended up pivoting to making the sketch consist of landmarks. The top of the head and bottom of the jaw along with the centerline indicating the eyes and nose location was all I needed.
