This little portrait Remarque was sketched and painted in 58 minutes. I filmed the entire process and reduced it to 24 seconds. Painting notes: • when starting out with a simple line sketch, it’s always a good idea to look for general shapes first. • if you can’t simplify what you’re looking at, you may get lost in details. Try blurring your vision by squinting or taking off glasses. This will reduce the info you are making the large shapes stand out. • this happens due to the higher contrast shapes popping forward while lower contrast shapes recede. • once your sketch is in place, I like to start in the high info areas like the eyes, since that area takes the most attention from the viewer and also to render. • Thoughts on color mixing will be in another post with a longer edit of this. #illustrator #starwars #obiwankenobi #ahsokatano #jedimaster
