Another @eltonjohn Remarque! These were so much fun to paint. The interesting thing about painting on a black surface is how the transparent paint behaves with layering. I’m using my @turnercolourworks graciously supplied by @jerrysartarama. The colors here are the “Zorn Palette” yellow ochre, white, cad red light and jet black. You can achieve a wide range of flesh tones from these fewest of colors. I let the ochre dominate the overall palette with red accenting towards warmth. The black paper comes through acting as a ground color and infects the value and temperature of the painting making it darker and cooler, which is an El Greco influence.
