After throwing 108 pitches in a complete game shutout on the road, the recovery process starts immediately. Most people only see the celebration after the final out, but what happens in the next 24 hours matters just as much.
The goal the next day is not to destroy the body again or sit around doing nothing. We want to restore movement, improve blood flow, reduce stiffness, and help the athlete feel athletic again as quickly as possible.
That’s why recovery for our pitchers still includes movement, light strength work, aerobic work, mobility, and arm care. The body usually recovers better with the right amount of movement than it does with complete shutdown.
The goal is not just to recover from one outing. The goal is to be physically ready to dominate again next week.
