Yesterday, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station received the memorial torch from northcountycorrectionalfac and completed their part of the annual relay, and handed off to lasdlan. A great turnout to honor the fallen, our Santa Clarita deputies ran with pride! In spite of all the challenges, they consistently show up and work hard every single day to support and protect the community they serve, and each other! Thank you to all who ran, supported and organized the event! Established in 1975, the LASD Memorial Torch Relay Run honors the deputies and peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Over the course of three days and more than 300 miles, runners carry the ceremonial Memorial Torch through Sheriff’s stations, custody facilities, and specialized units across Los Angeles County before it is used to light the ceremonial flame at the annual Los Angeles County Peace Officers Memorial ceremony.
