There are moments in India that don’t feel real until you’re standing right in front of them.
Like this one…. The heat. The smoke. The tension before the fire.
And then… something that seems impossible: a man walks straight through the flames. Barefoot.
I saw him in the temple before he walked on the fire and he was praying, completely immersed in his own world. But this will be another story.
This is Holika Dahan — a ritual that symbolizes the burning of negativity, ego and darkness before the arrival of Holi. But being there felt like much more than a celebration. It felt ancient. Raw. Almost impossible to explain.
I remember feeling the fire on my skin even from far away. Everyone around me watched in complete awe, as if we all understood this moment wasn’t just being seen… it was being felt. And then we all started screaming. He did it. It was real.
