Who Driving? Via tennesseannews • Tennessee allows teenagers to get behind the wheel with fewer training requirements than most states, even as it ranks high nationally for traffic fatalities. At Brentwood Driver Training near Nashville, owner Jeremy Lyon said an internal review shows students who complete the program are involved in roughly half as many crashes as those who don’t. “They have very few accidents,” Lyon said. “We measured it, and it cut their accident rate in half by taking our course.” The state is one of 13 in the country that does not require any formal driver education before issuing a license, despite ranking third in the nation in fatalities per 100,000 licensed teenage drivers, with 41.3 deaths, according to Zutobi, a driver’s education preparation platform.
