The bodies of four Italian divers missing after a scuba diving accident in the Maldives have been found inside a cave in Vaavu Atoll, with the entrance located 47 metres below the surface, officials said.⁣ ⁣ The victims were identified as University of Genoa professor Monica Montefalcone, her daughter Giorgia Sommacal, and researchers Muriel Oddenino and Federico Gualtieri. A fifth Italian victim, diving instructor Gianluca Benedetti, was recovered shortly after the accident.⁣ ⁣ Police said rough weather conditions were reported in the area, around 100km south of Male, when the group entered the water on Thursday morning and failed to resurface. A Maldivian rescue diver also died during search operations on Saturday.
