Every few years, the Hindu calendar adds an extra month called Adhika Masa.
But what fascinated me wasn’t the astronomy behind it.
It was the philosophy.
Ancient India believed that when time itself falls out of alignment, it deserves correction — not with more productivity, but with reflection.
So this “extra month” became a sacred pause.
A time to slow down.
To realign.
To look inward.
Today, we add more meetings to our calendars.
Ancient India added silence.
Maybe Adhika Masa was never just about religion.
Maybe it was a reminder that constant motion isn’t the same as growth.
Even time falls out of alignment.
So will we.
And maybe that’s why we all need moments that help us return to ourselves.
