9.26.25 (4K) | After one last visit to Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, we drove two hours south to Lincoln City to take on the very steep God’s Thumb Trail via The Knoll. Located in Siuslaw National Forest, God’s Thumb is a basalt formation covered with grass on one side and a sheer cliff on the other. The Knoll Loop provided most of the elevation gain on this five-mile hike. The trail to God’s Thumb is exposed and very narrow, which takes you along the edge of a high ridge before the final steep climb to the viewpoint.
