I think a lot of us learned how to ignore our own discomfort before we ever learned how to understand it. So instead of asking ourselves why something didn’t feel right to us, we learned how to adjust, explain things away, be understanding, push through, avoid disappointing people, and convince ourselves we were just overthinking. And I think after a while some of us got so used to overriding our own feelings with everyone else’s perspectives, needs, comfort, and expectations that we stopped trusting ourselves the way we should’ve. And it’s not because we were fake. It’s because somewhere along the way we got more comfortable disconnecting from ourselves than we did risking tension, disappointment, conflict, or being misunderstood. And I think that’s why reconnecting to yourself can feel so uncomfortable at first because now you’re trying to learn the difference between what actually feels right to you and what just feels familiar. #selfawareness #emotionalpatterns #innerwork #sel...
