And the crazy part is I didn’t even realize that’s what I was doing because it felt normal to me.
I was so used to adjusting, understanding, softening myself, reading the room, and trying to be what made the most sense for everybody else that I never stopped to ask myself who I naturally am without overthinking all of that.
Not who I am as a mom.
Not who I am in relationships.
Or who I am around certain people.
Just… me.
And it’s not even that I feel like I was being fake because those are all real parts of me.
I think I just got too comfortable only showing certain parts of myself depending on who I was around and what felt safest or made the most sense in the moment.
And after a while, I think I started carrying way more than I needed to because I cared too much about disappointing people, letting them down, or fearing their judgement.
