After registering for several life sciences electives in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kendall Howie ’19 found an interest in food science and revived her passion for microbiology by shifting her focus to food microbiology and safety.
Howie said she was raised by several individuals she refers to as, ‘professional students’ that include her grandfather, father and mother. She said her upbringing contributed to the development of the characteristics that drew her to not only pursue a degree in food science and technology but to approach her research with a balance.
Currently, Howie works as a food scientist for Axiom Space, a privately funded space infrastructure developer, and is pursuing her doctorate in the Department of Food Science and Technology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University. After she graduates, she plans to continue her career in the aerospace industry.
