Sarah Kezar, Ph.D. student in the Texas A&M University Department of Soil and Crop Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, hopes to find a solution to one of the largest issues facing U.S. cotton farmers. Palmer amaranth is a highly adaptable weed that poses a seemingly impossible threat to farmers. According to Kezar, a weed is a plant out of place. She believes that agriculture is directly related to helping people and helping the planet to build a better future through science.
