Bryan Bracewell ‘98, is a third-generation pitmaster and the owner of his family business, Southside Market & Barbeque. It was his passion for barbecue that ultimately led him to become a student in Texas A&M University - College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Bracewell came to Texas A&M University with the goal of improving his family’s product. He knew as a freshman that his enrollment would teach him even more about meat and how to prepare it. The knowledge he gained in the classrooms combined with his experience at the Rosenthal Meat Science & Technology Center all translated into better products for his family’s business.
He also attributes much of his success to his participation in programs such as the Texas A&M Animal Science department's Barbecue Summer Camp and Camp Brisket. According to Bracewell, he learns something new every time. Learn more about Bracewell’s family business at
