In my attempts over the years to photograph the coastal wolves of British Columbia, a rare subspecies that survives largely on marine life, I have failed 98% of the time. On my last shoot, weeks passed with my team hunkered in a soaked blind and we had little to show for our efforts. In the wild, patience is the only currency that gets you anywhere, but it is never a guarantee. Still, we waited and waited, until the images I had dreamed of finally came together.
