Reflections on my First Canadian Marathon Championship win!
✔️training has been consistent for over 5 years (no injuries, illness or missed training). Carefully planned coaching/program from
@chappellracing This includes strength training and monitoring the sum of all stresses.
✔️improvements in sleep hygiene.
✔️ higher carbohydrate intake before, during and after training and racing. This race I took in ~84g of carbs/hour using
@maurten_official Drink mix 320 caf, drink mix 160, gel 100’s and gel 100 caf 100. Before the race I used Maurten bicarb system 15.
✔️ improved bone density (measured by a DEXA in July).
✔️ I race often because I find it really enjoyable/fun and it helps me manage race day stress the more I do it. I was the calmest I have ever been leading into a Canadian Championship.
✔️ I focused on what I could control. Smooth, relax, focus, smile were all key words on the day. When it got hard I remembered all the training I did and how good it will feel crossin...
