#ModelMonday: Central Washington University’s Arts Education Complex Future-ready arts education is anchored by space that connects people, disciplines, and ideas. At central_washington_university, the Arts Education Complex concept reimagines aging, siloed Art+Design and Family and Consumer Science facilities as one interdisciplinary hub for creative education. Our design concept co-locates these programs to support collaboration across disciplines and ways of making. Program “neighborhoods” are organized around specific learning needs, while a shared double-height atrium framed in exposed mass timber creates the social heart of the building. The result is a more open, adaptable environment where student work, collaboration, and creative exchange are visible every day.
