As we move to the excitement of another Men’s Premier League grand final we always look back to the year of the first MPL grand final and MPL premiership for Southern United in 2018. And what a year that was with our under 16 and under 14 mixed shield also taking the flag. Looking at the under 16 premiership team, we see most of these players still playing and loving hockey. With Will Carruthers and Nick Fitzgerald part of our Premier League team that won the semi final, while Emily Hamilton Smith and Hayley Lambert part of our Women’s premier league team who were minor premiers. Josie Lawton also part of WPL team is a member of the Australian Women’s Development Squad and current Jillaroo. Max, Rylan, Dom, and Davin all played for Southern this year, while Billy and Finn elsewhere here in Melbourne.
