When Norwalk senior Kaiden Kunze crossed the finish line to win the Class 4A 400-meter state title, he flexed his muscles in celebration with his emotions high after a narrow victory.
He beat out Bettendorf's Gage Tucker by just a tenth of a second to claim the crown on Thursday, May 21. Kunze's time of 47.8 seconds wasn't his all-time best, but it secured his first-ever state title. Even if it wasn't pretty, it was enough to lock up an honor that had previously eluded him.
