A fire has destroyed the Reikado Hall on Miyajima, home to the “eternal flame” that the Daishoin Temple says has been burning for nearly 1,200 years. Authorities said the fire was first reported Wednesday morning and was extinguished Thursday. The temple relocated the flame to another location, and officials said the blaze may have been caused by it.
