Morgan Wallen’s “Miami” (from his 2025 album I’m the Problem) is a trap-influenced party track that he openly called a “Keith Whitley flip.” He took the melody and concept from Whitley’s 1986 classic and turned it into a modern rap-country hybrid (later remixed with Lil Wayne & Rick Ross).
The original? Keith Whitley’s “Miami, My Amy,” released in January 1986 as the second single from his album L.A. to Miami. It was one of his first Top 40 country hits, peaking at No. 14. A smooth, heartfelt traditional country ballad about longing for a girl named Amy in Miami.
