“Balanced training” gets a bad rap…mostly because people don’t actually know what it means. It’s not a style. It’s not a personality. It’s a complete set of tools, rewards and corrections, applied with skill and intention to get the best outcome for the dog. The problem is a lot of trainers call themselves balanced while barely touching rewards at all. That’s not balanced. They are just hijacking a term. That’s why I prefer the term coined by my friend @forrestmicke - “Complete Dog Training.” A truly complete dog trainer shows up with the full toolbox and uses whatever the dog actually needs.
