White Cube wishes a Happy Birthday to Yoko Matsumoto 🎉⁠ ⁠ Committed to the principle of ‘painting with colour and form alone’, Japanese artist Yoko Matsumoto creates immersive compositions with a reduced palette to articulate the primacy of painterly expression.⁠ ⁠ Yoko begins each of her compositions without preconceived concepts or sketches: ‘creation always comes unexpectedly out of nothing. I start from nothing – ‘無’ in Japanese, with a completely empty mind.
