The Outsiders, winner of 4 Tony Awards (including Best Musical), lived up to our Great Expectations!
On the shoulders of the 60s Susie Hinton book and the 80s heartthrob movie, this cool third incarnation unfolds with an original score. Adding the super cool fluid use of common objects like wood planks, tires, and water for set design, the show overflowed with depth. It was so visually engaging.
The Outsiders takes place in 1967 Tulsa, Oklahoma, and centers around the social hierarchy of the affluent “Socs” versus the poor east side “Greasers” or as we come to know them as “The Outsiders”.
This was the perfect show to see after finishing a year of social work school as I looked at this familiar story through a completely new lens.
