Back in 2007, Škoda literally made a car out of cake. ㅤ They baked an entire car using more than 180 eggs and over 100 kilos of flour and sugar. ㅤ It sounds insane, but it became one of the most memorable automotive ads ever made. ㅤ The spot went on to win major awards, including a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions and the John Webster Award from the British Television Advertising Awards. ㅤ But the real win wasn’t the stunt itself. ㅤ It was the positioning. ㅤ For years, Škoda had been seen as reliable… and boring. ㅤ This ad was part of a broader effort to reframe the brand as fun, unexpected, and a little playful. ㅤ And it worked. ㅤ The campaign pulled in hundreds of thousands of views online. ㅤ Škoda hit record market share in the UK, and the Fabia went on to sell 1.4 million units by 2014. ㅤ That’s creative doing real work. ㅤ So what do you think? ㅤ Was Škoda clever for this one, or was it just luck?
