Cyclone Mocha was the strongest storm to hit Myanmar and Bangladesh in the last 10 years. It has impacted thousands of families already displaced in Myanmar and living in refugee camps in Bangladesh. Due to the work of volunteers that are part of the Cyclone Preparedness Program — one of the largest preparedness programs in the world — communities were able to prepare and seek shelter and resources ahead of the storm. These volunteers are trained to help communities prepare for a disaster, distribute warning messages before one approaches and assist with evacuations when needed. This training is critical to saving lives and making communities more resilient in disaster-prone areas like Myanmar and Bangladesh. As communities begin their recovery phase, Red Cross and Red Crescent teams continue to assist communities in need amid the devastation, providing emergency relief supplies, medical assistance, safe drinking water and other support. #RedCross #RedCrescent #DisasterResponse #Dis...
