Leonard Horn took over as CEO of the Miss America Organization from 1987-1999. Heather French Henry, Miss America 2000, said of him, "he was an amazing leader...he had an amazing connection to the contestants [and] wasn't afraid to continually evolve the pageant." Leonard Horn was also instrumental in creating the idea that every Miss America would have a platform, a program they had a passion for, to promote during their year while wearing the crown.
