This #nationalbrothersday, we’re celebrating a story that feels a little like eight lucky paws of fate. 🩵💙 At just eight weeks old, brothers Skeeter and Slater headed off to begin their journeys with their puppy raisers and then entered professional training in different regions of the country: Skeeter in the North Central Region and Slater in the Southeast Region. In February 2025, something incredible happened. Becky and Slater graduated as a #facilitydog team from the North Central Training Center, joining Kids Talk Child Advocacy Center in Anderson, Indiana. During the same week, Skeeter, who was released from our service dog program, was adopted by Alyssa to become our #therapydog at Zoey's Place Child Advocacy Center in Greenfield, Indiana. By pure coincidence, they discovered that Skeeter and Slater were brothers, and it was a complete surprise to all - and no doubt, a serendipitous reunion, years in the making.
