The amount of “advice” I was given while expecting the twins was less than settling — and often unsolicited. But the way that I prepare for my pregnancies, labor, and delivery allowed me to ignore the unwarranted pressures of what others expected. What people expected: ▫️Early delivery ▫️Hospital birth ▫️NICU time ▫️Formula feeding ▫️C-section ▫️Scheduling the twins With the right nutrition, body movements, and childbirth education, I: 🤍 Delivered at 38 weeks, 5 days 🤍 Home birth 🤍 Boys weighed 7.2 lbs and 6.4 lbs — no NICU time 🤍 Exclusively breastfeeding 🤍 Vaginal birth 🤍 Feeding and sleep schedules on demand as determined by each baby individually While I believe people’s comments came from a place of love and support, it’s important to check in with the expecting mama to see if she even wants to hear those things.
