There’s something powerful about watching someone chase a vision bigger than themselves. Over the last year, I had the opportunity to document Richard Perque’s campaign journey, and one thing I can say is this regardless of the outcome, the amount of sacrifice, pressure, faith, and resilience it takes to run for office is something most people will never fully understand. People only see election night. They don’t see the long days, the constant conversations, the moments of doubt, or the responsibility of carrying so many people’s hopes on your back while still trying to remain human through it all. Saturday night, I watched people embrace Richard not because of a win or loss, but because of the impact he made on them throughout this journey. And that matters.
