After 111 years in operation, State Correctional Institution Rockview in Centre County closed its doors in March. The decision by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to shutter the commonwealth’s largest penitentiary by land area and second oldest, as well as the Quehanna Boot Camp in neighboring Clearfield County, “felt sprung upon” both communities, a local legislator said.
