Champions for Literacy's Impact Players program gives high school athletes a platform to do something early in the course of their life: fundraise for a cause bigger than themselves and show up in person to serve the kids they're raising money for. 84% of philanthropists had an experience engaging the community as a teen. Our direct service organizations are incredibly important, and we also need to be sure we're raising up the next crew that will support them.
This group delivered a $5,000 grant check to Leadership Preparatory Charter School's literacy program, which has demonstrated top 10% growth in the State of Tennessee serving kids who are behind in reading.
Our '25-26 cohort is closing in on $50,000 raised for local literacy projects, and we're immensely proud of the work these athletes have done with William Smith leading the program charge.
