In 1457, following the tragic murder of the 16-year-old exiled King Danjong, a brutal decree promised the execution of three generations for anyone who dared touch his remains. Yet, local warden Eom Heung-do chose conscience over survival. Under the cover of a freezing winter night, he secretly retrieved and buried the young king in these very hills. Centuries later, the state finally broke its own zoning codes to formally elevate this hidden grave into a royal tomb.
